World Cup 2010 Fantasy Football League
The World Cup 2010 Fantasy Football League is an online game based around the upcoming World Cup 2010 in South Africa. The game will begin on Tuesday 8 June 2010, and run for the duration of the world cup, until 11 Jualy 2010.
How To Play
The idea behind the game is that each registered player in a League is the Manager of "Team". The player creates a Team for each upcoming fixture. The Team is selected by the player from ALL the available players, in both squads, of the competing teams in that fixture. There are 65 fixtures scheduled for the 2010 World Cup
Points are awarded to and deducted from each real player based on their performance in the fixture. Players who score are awarded points, ranging from 2pts for a striker, through to 5 points for the Goalkeeper. Defenders and Goalkeepers lose points for conceding a goal. Yellow and red cards also attract penalties. Missed penalties attract -5pts for the player, and saved penalties attract a bonus of 5pts for the Goalkeeper. There is also a bonus for having the Nominated Man Of The Match on your fantasy team selection.
At the end of the fixture, the total score for your fantasy team is the accumulation of all points, penalties and bonuses awarded to each of your selected players in your Fantasy Team. This is published in the League Table for your League.
Leagues
To create a League for your office, local pub or just a group of friends, simply send us an email at
wc2010@cemit.ie. We will create a separate League table for you, that you and your friends or customers can join. For a small fee, we will provide a unique design and colour scheme, and any logos, advertising and photographs you may wish to display.
You can explore some of the features of the game by registering in the
Demo section and creating a sample fantasy team.
Your League Table will be updated on a continual basis, and will reflect the action of each fixture, as the drama unfolds. As the League Manager/Owner, you can choose to reward your Team Managers (your customers or friends) after every fixture, every day or every week, based on the greatest point gain or their position in the League table. Alternatively, the prize may be awarded at the end of the competition on 11 July.
